WBC International boxing champion Mia St John didn't just earn the nickname ‘The Knockout' because of her ‘knockout' looks, she earned it due to her tremendous success in the boxing ring. I mean in her pro debut fight she knocked out her opponent in 54 seconds in the very first round! This performance grabbed the attention of top boxing promoter, Don King, who immediately signed Mia up to his stable of fighters.
Mia remained with King for 1 ½ years after which time she moved to Bob Arum of Top Rank. At Top Rank, Mia spent 4 years opening for all of Oscar De LaHoya's major fights.
One of the hottest topics to light up the forums recently was ‘the great bikini debate'. It seems that the arrival of this new division has done more than just ruffle feathers it has sparked up an inferno of heated opinions!
As a bikini competitor, forum member Stephanie Wicked has been quick to jump to the defense of this new class so I thought that I would give her the chance to voice her views and perhaps even convince a few doubters that bikini does indeed have a place on the bodybuilding stage. Stephanie has been training seriously for two years has one show under her belt and is currently preparing for her next show at the end of this month.
With a contest history beginning way back in 1995 and well over 20 contests under her belt, Roxanne Edwards has enjoyed a highly successful career in bodybuilding. However, given her amazing ability to just keep on improving there's no doubt in my mind that, for Roxanne, the best is yet to come.
I recently had the chance to talk with her while she was preparing for the forthcoming NPC Junior Nationals in Chicago where she revealed to me that, when it comes to the sport of bodybuilding, she's something of a rebel who likes to ‘rock the rules'.
Celia Romero has come a long way since February 2008 when she weighed close to 200 lbs! She decided to take matters in to her own hands and take control of her body. She made a major transformation on her own, documenting her progress on her BodySpace page along the way. She was so impressive in her journey that she caught the eye of photographer Dan Ray and has already done a photo shoot before ever even competing.
Welcome to the first in a brand new series of articles featuring your favorite female bodybuilders and the amazing ladies of RX Muscle. The aim of this series is to step beyond the usual interview format and probe the minds of these strong women. In some cases questions will be asked that provoke thought and discussion on a whole new level.
My first guest for this new series is none other than Sister Steele from the Rx Muscle Forum. Ever since she first appeared on the message boards she has opened up discussions and added valuable comments on many subjects that women were once too reserved to discuss openly. She has held nothing back when it comes to sharing information....and that is why we love her! With that in mind, it should come as no surprise to you that her chosen subject matter for this interview was the fetish/fantasy connection with female bodybuilders, sexual identity, erotica etc.
At first glance, the title of this article may seem outlandish (even preposterous) however, believe it or not, there are actually more women who would benefit from testosterone replacement therapy than men. Even before menopause occurs many women have significantly lower levels of free testosterone (or any of its precursors such as DHEA). In the years following menopause, the levels fall even further leading to symptoms such as lack of libido, depression, fatigue and difficulty losing weight. When testosterone is administered the results can be quite dramatic with renewed outlook and enthusiasm for life, increased energy levels, reduction in fatigue, restoration of sex drive and greater ability to lose weight when following exercise and diet programs.
It's no secret that many female bodybuilders use testosterone esters in order to enhance muscle growth. In fact, before I left the UK about 12 years ago I knew several top female competitors who were using Sustanon 250 at doses of 250mg/week!
