Showstopper Invades LA
Ben "The Showstopper" White is a little more than 3 weeks away from invading the Santa Monica Civic Center Auditorium. Last season, Ben proved that he's for real by winning the Tim Gardner's IFBB Pro Bodybuilding Weekly Tampa Pro and placing a controversial 3nd a week later at Ed and Betty Pariso's IFBB Europa Battle of Champions. In essence, Ben qualified twice in 2 weeks for the 2010 Olympia. As we all know, Ben made the decision to forgo the Olympia to focus on gaining muscle and competing in the World's Strongest Bodybuilder Contest. Since he was able to start bulking up right after his last stage appearance, Ben had a tremendous jump on adding new muscle. "By skipping the O, I have had a chance to gain more muscle and make more gains than any other off-season since I began bodybuilding," says White.
No doubt, everyone has heard that the first show of the 2011 season is the inaugural IFBB Flex Pro Show on February 19th.
Here is a quote from the FLEX website:
"Already we've received commitments from the who's who of the sport-- 2009 Mr. Olympia Dexter Jackson, Dennis Wolf, Evan Centopani, Fouad Abiad, Ben Pakulski, Ben White and more are just some of the names who will compete at the FLEX Pro!"
The Truth About Priest
I've been hearing rumors for months that Lee Priest's days as a part of Team MD are numbered. A few days ago I heard the same thing but from a very reliable source, so I reached out to Lee and his wife, Rhaine. I just got off the phone with the happy couple and they were able to verify the rumors. As of February 19th, Lee's contract with Muscular Development will be terminated.
2011 is only one week old and the bodybuilding news stories are already rolling into the Rx Muscle media studios. My first report of the New Year is chock filled with medical drama ranging from the life-threatening to the life-saving. I'm happy to say, despite some drama, both stories have a very happy ending.
DJ's New Tattoo
IFBB Pro Dennis James recently retired from competitive bodybuilding. He made the announcement in quite a dramatic fashion on the 2010 Olympia stage, and it may just have proved to be one of the most emotional and moving moments of the weekend. Since then, he's been enjoying his retirement... Eating whatever, training at a somewhat lower intensity, and getting tattoos! Dennis' first tattoo was done by Justin Kramer at Gold Tooth Tattoo in Glendale, AZ . . . . It's a portrait of his daughter. No further explanation is necessary!
