Exercise Boosts Tumor Shrinking Effects of Chemotherapy
Although a recent report from The American Cancer Society indicates that they expect the rates of death from cancer to fall in 2014, it’s still estimated that nearly 586,000 deaths will occur in the United States this year from all forms of cancer. Chemotherapy drugs are one of the primary means of treatment for fighting cancer, but damaging side effects of the drugs often times bring unexpected consequences such as increased risk for developing cardiovascular disease.

Psilocybin is the active hallucinogen in what’s common referred to as magic mushrooms, or shrooms. A recent study conducted by John’ Hopkins University, that was published in the Journal of Physcopharmocolgy, found that psilocybin is nearly three times as effective at getting long-time smokers to quit permanently than standard prescription drugs, or nicotine patches and gums.

It's not exactly a well guarded secret that the benefits of regular physical activity extend far beyond just being fit. In fact, there is a great deal of evidence to support the use of exercise to help fight off the effects of cognitive decline in the elderly. However, a new study conducted by researchers at the University of Illinois has found that not only does being physically fit improve children's ability to learn, they've also discovered how. Researchers found that children who were more physically fit actually have more white matter in their brains then do children who tend to be more sedentary.
Skipping Breakfast Has No Impact on Weight Gain
For decades one of the most common doctrines that flew from the mouth of “nutrition experts” was the idea that eating a balanced, healthy breakfast was the most important meal of the day. However the rise in popularity of alternative dieting methods such as intermittent fasting, along with other scientific data have empirically disproved the age old myth. Now, a new study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition has examined the impact that eating or skipping breakfast has on weight loss in overweight but otherwise healthy individuals.
