Nick Walker doesn’t appear to be showing any ill-effects from the devastating hamstring injury that forced him to unexpectedly withdraw from this year’s Mr. Olympia contest, less than a week before he was set to take the biggest stage in bodybuilding.
At last weekend’s NPC High Roller Royale, The Mutant made his first post-Olympia appearance on the IFBB stage, where he showcased what was, arguably, his best guest posing form of the 2023 contest season. Shortly after wrapping up his performance Walker, who’s never been shy about voicing his opinions, posted a carousel of photos with the caption from last weekend’s event on Instagram.
“I think I made my point.”
Many believe Walker’s caption referred to a comment he made recently when he was a guest on a podcast alongside Antoine Valliant, when he addressed the question as to whether he believed that he deserved a special invite to the 2024 Mr. Olympia.
“Am I gonna me mad if they say don’t? No. It’s fine. I’ll win something. But, if they give me one, do I think it’s deserving? Going off the situation...yeah, I do.”
Despite his sentiments, and the new qualification system that requires all athletes who did not place in the top three at the previous year’s Olympia to win a show to make the trip back to bodybuilding’s biggest stage, in all likelihood, the former Arnold Classic champion won’t have to resort to waiting for a gift wrapped invitation from pro league officials to compete at next year’s event.
Assuming he opts to forgo the Arnold Classic in March 2024, Walker will enter next year’s contest season with one of the longest breaks between shows in his professional career, which would provide plenty of runway for him to pick and choose potential landing spots as he hunts a qualification securing win.
