Despite starting his 2024 campaign off strong with a 3rd place performance at the Empro Classic, Michal Krizo’s push to continue rising up the rankings came to an abrupt end before it ever had a chance to get rolling. Krizo announced to his fans that his bid to pursue second straight top ten Olympia finish was being put on hold due to major shoulder injury suffered during training that officially brought his contest season to an end.
This week Krizo took to social media to update his fans on the state of his injury, saying:
“I AM HAVING SURGERY ON AUGUST 19. THE RECOVERY SHOULD TAKE UP TO SIX WEEKS MAXIMUM AND AFTER THOSE SIX WEEKS, I SHOULD BE ABLE TO GO HARD AGAIN. I SHOULD BE ABLE TO MOVE THE SHOULDER FULLY ONE WEEK AFTER THE SURGERY.”
Although being forced to put his plans for the 2024 season on ice was a major blow for one of the brightest new stars in bodybuilding, he’s remained in high spirits since suffering his injury, and noted he’s continued to train around it; keeping his focus on making improvements where he can so he can launch into his recovery with a full head of steam.
With surgery set for August 19, followed by a six week rehab before he’s given the green light to resume normal activities, getting himself back into top form and earning an Olympia qualification would be nearly impossible.
With the resurgence of William Bonac, a strong early start to the season for Nathan Deasha, and a looming top three contender sized bomb in Behroz Tabani, in the long run, this minor setback might up being a blessing in disguise for Krizo is he continues to improve his weaknesses during his road to recovery, while he targets his big return for the EVLS Prague Pro in November, where a win would secure him a spot for the 2025 Olympia, and give him an opportunity to stay away from the stage through the early part of next season.
