Have a Sweet Tooth? Try These Two Treats!

Have a Sweet Tooth? Try These Two Treats!

I have a sensational sweet tooth. I grew up with a mprolabtreat1other (an incredible mother) whose lifetime famous saying is, “A day without sugar isn’t worth living!” She was a chef and baker, with a bakery at one time that was extremely successful. Her mouth-watering brownies and goodies galore were constantly in the house! So you can imagine how long it has taken me to dull, suppress, and greatly try to reverse the massive sweet lovin’ that has been ingrained in me.

So what does any sugar addict trying to convert their sinful ways to a healthy lifestyle do? That’s right! They come up with incredible substitutions for sugary delights. And by golly, I believe I have! Here are a few of my favorite sweet treat substitutions. (You can find more at www.facebook.com/JaxPersonalTraining.)
When I’m cutting out almost all sugar, low-carbing and sticking to a regimented pre/early-contest prep meal plan, one of my first meals might look like this:

Sweet Treat #1
Nicki JaX Chocolate Protein Walnut Pancakes: Protein Source Combined with Fat Source sweet treat
KCAL: 81/120/45=246 Protein: 35g Fat: 9g Carb: 10 (no added carb- these are naturally occurring in the foods)

1 Scoop Prolab Chocolate or Vanilla Cream Essential Whey Concentrate (I love this protein, it is thick very rich in flavor, very low in carb and 2g sugar and like most whey protein sources, this one does NOT upset my stomach. Whey concentrate is great to cook and bake with because its consistency is thicker, unlike the more processes/filtered whey isolate which is a great protein powder option, however for baking your batter will be thinner)

7-12 chopped walnut halves (Keep in mind your portion sizes here. It is important to realize that 7 nuts are about 7grams of fat, so depending on your calorie and fat intake per day, know that those add up quickly!) Walnuts are a great choice because (I happen to love their taste and texture) they are extremely high in a Vitamin E, omegas and other phytonutrients. Egg Whites I add anywhere from ¼ cup- ½ cup
I add cinnamon, Allspice to taste (about a ½ to 1 teaspoon)

Instructions:
Mix whey, cinnamon and chopped walnuts and mix the dry ingredients well. Then slowly begin to add the egg whites. If you want the batter thinner add more egg whites, or you can add some unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk. Mix well, and take a small skillet, sprayed well with an olive oil cooking spray, set medium to high flame, wait until you begin to see small bubbles at the top of the pancake. Test the rims to see if ready to flip to cook the other side. Once flipped, brown to choosing, sprinkle some cinnamon on top, and if you must have it a bit of sweetness, add a tiny bit of Stevia on top and VOILA! Amazzzing!!! :D

Sweet Treat #2: Jax Pumpkin Protein Spiced Ice Cream Shake
Kcal: 100/150/30 =280 (with nuts/nut butter) Kcal: 150/30=180 (no nuts)
Macro-breakdowns: Protein:26g /Carb:9g / Fat:10g (if adding nuts/nut butter)
Blender: Fill Large 24 oz cup full of ice (crushed)
1 Scoop Prolab Essential Whey or – my personal favorite – MRI PRO-NOS French Vanilla Crème
1-2 heaping tablespoons of pure canned pumpkin (Be aware, when picking up your pumpkin, that you do not buy “pumpkin pie mix” which is packed with sugar and other ingredients that you do not want!)
1 tablespoon of peanut/almond butter/or 7-chopped walnuts or nuts of choice (optional)
1-2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon (more or less if you like)
½ teaspoon Allspice/clove or ground ginger also tastes good

jaxpancake
Instructions:
Add 8oz. of water, blend really well until shake is very thick. Pour or spoon into tall glass of choice and indulge. I enjoy eating mine with a spoon. It is thick like ice cream. You can add unsweetened almond milk as well, but just added calories, and to be honest you really don’t need it. The shake tastes fantastic with only water added.

MRI Products: Favorite whey protein powder: PRO-NOS French Vanilla Crème. This is the best protein I’ve ever tasted. It is the thickest, best tasting whey isolate.
