What do you like best about being a diet coach? THE BEST HAS BEEN MEETING SOME REALLY GREAT PEOPLE. MY CLIENTS ARE THE BEST, THEY REALLY ARE. NO EGOS, JUST HARD WORKING PEOPLE. SEEING THEM TRANSFORM AND WIN OVERALLS OR PRO CARDS OR WHATEVER THE CASE MAY BE IS MORE GRATIFYING THAN IF I WAS UP THERE. I FEEL LIKE I AM IMPACTING LIVES AND THAT'S A REWARDING FEELING.

IVE BEEN COMPETING FOR 10 YEAR,S BUT ILL JUST HIT SOME RECENT ONES:

1st bantamweight Indianapolis Championships 2008
1st lightweight 2009 GNC Classic
6th lightweight Jr Nationals 2009

15th lightweight Nationals 2010 (probably should have stayed welter)
What Cardio Type Would You Recommend for Fat Loss and or Pre Contest, High Intensity Interval Training (H.I.I.T) or Low Intensity Steady State (L.I.S.S.)?
I ALWAYS START WITH LISS/MISS TYPE CARDO FIRST THING OUT OF BED ON AN EMPTY STOMACH. POST WORKOUT WILL WORK TOO. IF THAT WORKS AND WE GET THE RESULTS WE NEED I NEVER ADD HIIT. HOWEVER, IM NOT OPPOSED TO ADDING IT. METABOLISMS WERENT CREATED EQUALLY UNFORTUNATELY SO IF HIIT IS NEEDED I WILL EMPLOY IT. ILL USE IT WITH THE ATHLETE DURING OFF DAYS USUALLY LATER IN THE DAY AFTER A FEW MEALS HAVE BEEN EATEN.
How do you diet your clients? Using the carb cycling approach, keto?
I SUBSCRIBE TO NO ONE WAY OF DIETING, AND IM VERSED IN ALL WAYS. I ASSESS THE CLIENT. ARE THEY YOUNG, GOOD METABOLISM/SLOW METABOLISM, SIT DOWN DESK JOB OR WORKING IN A FACTORY MOVING ALL DAY, BODYTYPE. ALSO, WHAT THEY HAVE SEEN TO WORK OR BELIEVE TO WORK. I GATHER AS MUCH INFO AS I CAN. I JUST HAD SOME ATHLETES DO MASTERS NATIONALS. ONE GUY HAD TO EAT 500 PLUS CARBS DAILY TO NOT DROP WEIGHT ANYMORE, BUT I HAD ANOTHER GUY SHREDDED USING KETO AND TAKING REFEEDS EVERY 3 DAYS ON HIGH GLYCEMIC CARBS.
What is your protocol for filing out days prior to stepping onstage?
THIS ISNT SET EITHER. I BASE THIS ON HOW THE ATHLETE REACTED TO CARBS AND FATS DURING THE DIET. IF THEY FELT BETTER ONCE WE PULLED CARBS AND ADDED SOME FATS IN THEN I KNOW THEY PROBABLY WILL LOAD A LITTLE BETTER ON MODERATE CARBS AND GETTING IN SOME GOOD AMOUNTS OF FATS. IF SOMEONE NEEDED A LOT OF CARBS TO NOT DROP WEIGHT SO FAST THEN I WILL PROBABLY CARB THEM PRETTY HARD STARTING WEDS AND TAPER IT ON IN. I BUILD IT TO THE CLIENT.
What is the most challenging aspect of dieting clients?
THE FACT THAT EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT. I HAVE SOME CLIENTS WHO MAY ONLY NEED 3-4 DIET ADJUSTMENTS THE WHOLE TIME, BUT I ALSO HAVE THOSE THAT IM CHANGING THINGS CONSTANTLY TO KEEP THEIR BODY GUESSING AND RESPONDING. SO THE MOST CHALLENGING ASPECT IS SOLVING THE CLIENTS UNIQUE METABOLISM TO GET THE BEST RESULTS FOR A STAGE READY PHYSIQUE.
What supplements do you reccommend the most to your clients?
WHEY PROTEIN, CREATINE, GLUTAMINE, BCAAS, YOHIMBINE HCL, MY PRODUCT SLIN TROL FOR GLUCOSE DISPOSAL, AND A MULTIVITAMIN. D-ASPARTIC ACID ALSO IF IT'S A MALE CLIENT WITH POSSIBLE DECLINING NATURAL TESTOSTERONE LEVELS.
What is the oddest question you have ever been asked by a client?
IM NOT SURE I CAN REMEMBER THE ODDEST QUESTION. BUT I GIVE MY CLIENTS AN EXCEL SHEET THAT IS A WEIGHT TRACKER, BUT IT ALSO HAS A NOTES SECTION ON IT AND A PLACE TO TRACK CARDIO. WELL THIS ONE CLIENT WOULD LIST WHAT TIME SHE HAD A BOWEL MOVEMENT AND THEN PROCEED TO EXPLAIN THE CONSISTENCY EVERYDAY. THAT WAS THE ODDEST THING IVE EVER SEEN.
Do you also provide training programs to clients? If so, how do you determine the best program for each individual?
I WILL IF A CLIENT NEEDS HELP IN THAT ASPECT. MOST OF MY CLIENTS ARE PRETTY GOOD WHEN IT COME TO THEIR TRAINING. I DO REVIEW WHAT THEY ARE DOING, AND IF I FEEL ITS NOT PROPER FOR THEM ILL GIVE THEM A PROGRAM OR HELP THEM ADJUST THEIR PROGRAM TO MAYBE HIT THEIR WEAK AREAS BETTER.
What formula do you use to determine how many macro nutrients to give each client?
I DON'T HAVE A SET FORMULA, BUT I DO OPERATE WITHIN THE 13 TO 20 X BW RANGE USUALLY. IF I DEEM SOMEONE TO HAVE A GOOD METABOLISM IT WILL BE HIGHER ON THE CALORIC RANGE. IVE FOUND THAT MOST PEOPLE BY THE TIME THEY ARE 4 WEEKS OUT NEED TO BE AROUND 10 X BW IN CALORIES WITH REFEEDS TO GET THE BEST LEANEST RESULTS ON STAGE. THAT IS NOT A WRITTEN RULE AND I DEFINITLEY WAIT TO SEE HOW THE CLIENT IS DOING ON MORE CALORIES, BUT IN GENERAL I WORK TOWARDS 10 X BW OVERTIME.
Do you have clients manipulate water prior to getting onstage? If so how?
THIS DEPENDS ON THE CLIENT. THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE, WHETHER A DIET COACH KNOW IT OR WILL ADMIT IT, THAT SIMPLY DON'T LOOK SHARP UNTIL YOU PULL WATER. I HAVE A FEW LIKE THIS, SO I DEFINITELY WILL PULL THEIR WATER. BUT THEN THERE IS THAT GUY OR GIRL WHO LOOKS AWESOME ALREADY DRINKING 2 GALLONS SO YOU KNOW WITH THEM YOU MAY NEED TO TAPER IT BACK SOME, BUT NOT PULL IT AT ALL.
