Now On Stage: JACK TITONE
Diet Guru of The Week!
Name: JACK TITONE
Date of birth: 4- 18 65
Hometown: ST LOUIS , MO
Career: I STARTED OFF UNDER THE TOOLAGE OF George Turner back in the early days of the late 70.s George( 83 years old today) was one of the first real trainers / gym owners who worked with many top pros back then…St Louis was a hot bed for inspiring Pro’s such as Robbie Robinson, Ken Waller and Samir Bannout who all worked for George in his gym at some point in St Louis. As a young man, I learned many of the secrets / methods I use today from George with some tweaks / adjustments here and there…Today after 27 plus years in the fitness industry, and serving in the Marines special operation unit STA PLT ( SURVELLIANCE TARGET AQUISATION) along with spending time as a police officer, I have used many forms of my experiences / training methods and applied it to many vigorous fitness programs and diet regiments. Obviously we are proud that our process has rewarded us with numerous Pros over the years and top nationally ranked competitors…… I owe George for my start!
Sports background: I played football, wrestled and boxed. I boxed for the Police Dept and participated in the golden gloves in St Louis. Boxing may be one of the best sports to participate in because of all it instills.
What do you like best about being a diet coach? I love being able to make a difference for my clients. In weight loss, competition placing’s and or overall wellness.
Competition history: As far as a completive bodybuilder, I only competed 4 times placing 2nd-4th respectfully. The event Mr. St Louis x 2, Caveman Classic, and The Missouri State. Obviously this was back in 1979 - 1984 time period. As a competitive wrestler, my record was 18 -3. As a boxer, I was beaten only twice.
What Cardio Type Would You Recommend for Fat Loss and or Pre Contest, High Intensity Interval Training (H.I.I.T) or Low Intensity Steady State (L.I.S.S.)? Obviously this is a client specific question based on their needs. I do believe in all forms of cardio and don’t believe in doing more then and 1hr per day right before a show. If your doing more cardio then that, your typically behind and something else is going on…..As well, I don’t believe in doing a lot of cardio in your off season.
How do you diet your clients? Using the carb cycling approach, keto? All of the above. I use them all and it is of course client specific based on needs and goals. I believe in changing things around and tricking the body through this process.
What is your protocol for filing out days prior to stepping onstage? Once again client specific…..Depending on your needs and of course desired class / division you may compete in. As an example, I USE FATS TO FILL OUR CLIENTS AS WELL AS CARBS……IN SOME CASES I MAY USE A SMALL AMOUNT OF CARBS AND STILL USE LARGE AMOUNTS OF FATS……ONCE AGAIN BASED ON THE LOOK, CLIENT SPECIFICS…………etc!
What is the most challenging aspect of dieting clients? Having the client understand the process and sticking to it throughout the process. Sometimes, many want to see immediate change and don’t have the vision or patience to see the end result. The ones that do generally succeed and become Pro’s or better competitors in their placing’s. The other would be that some clients feel the need to win know! Or they want that Pro card now…So these types like to jump from trainer to trainer to only realize that they regress in their placing’s. Thinking that a change may be the answer when in actuality, it’s the progression process they don’t want to wait for. Rome isn’t / wasn’t built in a day!!
What supplements do you recommend the most to your clients? Once again client specific…ones that I do incourage….Glutamine………..,! D3, C 2000MG, B Complex, Hydrolyze Ultra, Digestive enzymes.
What is the oddest question you have ever been asked by a client? Hmmm, cant remember one.
Do you also provide training programs to clients? If so, how do you determine the best program for each individual? It generally based on the diet that I have designed and their physical needs and specific goals.
What formula do you use to determine how many macro nutrients to give each client? That’s the secret TITONE concoction….sorry cant share!
Do you have clients manipulate water prior to getting onstage? If so how? Some times…client specific based on the desired look and their conditioning. I do believe in reducing water not cutting it out completely. Diuretics…in only certain situations with clients.
What is the best way for potential clients to reach you? They can reach me at [email protected] or at www.fitnessamerica.biz.
