Road to the 2011 Figure Olympia
Hi Everyone!
The countdown to the Olympia is on! Just 5 weeks and two days until I fly into Vegas for the 'big dance' and I couldn't be more excited :-) After having spent a wonderful week in Montreal with friends, I am back home and training like a mad woman! Two a day cardios, 5 days of weights a week, posing, dieting and a full time job are all eating up all my spare time. But the weather has been absolutely beautiful so I have been taking advantage by getting out side with my dogs, doing sprints and running drills along the water, and of course taking in some much needed vitamin D. I have also contracted in for the Tournament of Champions Pro Figure which is the week before the Olympia in Culver City, California. I thought it would be a good idea to get on stage after a three month hiatus to make sure everything is as it should be for the Olympia. Plus, California is only a 2.5 hr flight for me and the same time zone so I am able to travel fairly easily which for competitors is a god send!
So I have to admit I have been more than a little pooped lately and getting up for morning cardio is not easy. I am also training some new clients and am spending a lot of time crafting other people's programs which cuts my day a little short. Oh well - I love what I do and the successes of the people I work with make it so worthwhile! My coach Tad Inoue is also one who trains others while training himself, and I may not be as extreme as he is (given bodybuilding is much more physically demanding than Figure), but I definitely have a new found appreciation for all that he does for me.... Especially when he is carb depleted and tired!
This past weekend I spent some time with friends, enjoyed some sashimi at a great sushi restaurant (Vancouver has the best Asian cuisine in Canada!) and went for a relaxing pedicure. I also went to see 'Bad Teacher' starring Cameron Diaz which made me laugh out loud, and also think back to when high school teaching father (now retired) used to come home and ask us to help us grade posters and such - may have been unorthodox but it certainly was fun! I have so much respect for teachers... their amount of patience is incredible!
This Friday I will be attending the 'Power of Women' event in Vancouver which features Ellen DeGeneres, Suzanne Somers , Courtenay Wolfe, Loretta LaRoche, Leigh Anne Tuohy, Amilya Antonetti, Marlee Matlin and Jessica Holmes http://www.powerofwomen.com/home.aspx. Should be a lot of fun and an interesting change of pace from the office :-)
Have a great week everyone and stay tuned for my final month of prep - it is just around the corner!
