Heather Grace Gets in the Grove.. Persevering as a Figure Pro..Maintaining Focus
I have never been a “seasonal” competitor or “12week dieter” type of athlete. My contention is that we should always be working toward refinement and improvement- so I train and eat specific to achieve respective goals throughout the year. My diet is typically regimented with 6-7 meals/day and I will adjust carbs/fat/cardio around my goals.
Do I believe in an “off-season”? YES!!! Of course- if that entails dedicating your time in the gym to work on weaknesses and eating additional food to support those changes. But do I advocate going into a “free-for-all”, eat whatever, train if necessary, sedentary mode… under the auspices of needing a break? HELL NO!!!!
I’ve never understood what that “mental break” entails… A couple of days away from the gym and I’m typically going nuts!
The bottom line is this: if you aren’t happy in the gym training hard and eating with structure to support goals in altering your physique- then DON’T. Our sport is very demanding. I LOVE the putting in the work to achieve a desired result but also recognize that it isn’t easy and certainly not for everyone.
I suppose I’m a bit of a “gym-rat” but I’m never going to apologize for that.
Hit it hard with intention and focus today!!! :)
