Danielle Destroys The Road To The Arnold: Blog 1
Last year I watched the IFBB Fitness girls compete at the Arnold Classic. I was on the edge of my seat in awe. More than anything I wanted to be up there with them! I made a promise to myself that I was going to make it there…one day
Little did I know it was going to be the very next year! I worked so hard this past year. I tried for my pro card at the CBBF National Championships and just missed placing 2nd in the Overall. I wasn’t going to miss it again. I continued to work my butt of and won my pro card at the IFBB North Americans.
It’s hard to believe how far I have come. Here I am: blogging about my journey to the Arnolds. Dreams do come true if you believe in them!
I am more than honoured to be invited to compete at the Ms. Fitness International. To share the stage with the woman I have idolized for as long as I have been involved in fitness means more to me than I can explain.
I feel this is my big opportunity to make a memorable first impressions. I can’t help but feeling a lot of pressure, however. This will be my pro debut as well as the fact that it is THE ARNOLD. It’s a bit intimidating!
My goals for this show are to make an outstanding first impression, bring a better package then I ever have in the past including a dynamite routine round and improved physique. I would love to make the top 8. I believe if I bust my ass I can do it!
I started the 5th week of my contest prep today. My energy fluctuates which is normal when dieting. I am leaning down steadily and my strength is improving.
I started working with Mike Davies of Fitness Factory and I love it. The training is more functional than what I have done in the past and I know it will help me with my fitness routine as well as improve my physique. My biggest challenge is the cardio drills. They are murder, but I do them anyway. If I am going to do something I have never done before, I better be willing do things I never did before to get there!
My motivation is high because honestly, what could be more motivating than what I am training for? lol.
My coach Mike advised me to not put too much pressure on myself, or bad things will happen. So I am trying to follow that advice and as much as I can and just enjoy the journey! When it comes down to it that is why I do what I do. I love fitness and what it brings to my life.
Now if you will excuse me it’s time to go destroy my legs:)
