Canuck Corner Installment #17
Hey RX Fans!
Well it is February and we all know what that means – the Arnold Sports Festival is here! With just over 3 weeks until this colossal event invades Columbus, Ohio, contest prep is taking 150% of my focus and 50 % of my time (yes the math doesn’t add up but this formula is based on how excited I am :)). I have attended the Arnold every year since 2007 (and competed in 2008 at the Arnold Amateur) so to step on the IFBB Pro stage in front of thousands of people is a dream come true, and the culmination of a lot of hard work! I am happy to report that the Arnold has several fellow Canucks taking the stage in the pro events. We have Ben Pakulski, Fouad Abiad, Cathy Lefrancois, Ryall Graber-Vasani, Fionna Harris, Myriam Capes, Aleisha Hart and myself (Justine Munro withdrew from Bikini). Not too shabby! It is going to be a great weekend and a fantastic start to the 2013 season :)
So with all of that to be said, I took some time last month to travel to Arizona and train with my coach Damian Segovia, so that we could focus on some areas (including showing me how to tweak my training), and improve my posing and presentation. Since I have gotten back I have been posing every morning after cardio, in the hopes that all of this will reflect itself in my showing at the Arnold - because regardless if you place 1st or last, every eye will be on you and I do not plan on screwing up my presentation. The Arnold weekend will start off with a Meet the Pros event on the Thursday evening, followed by the women’s prejudging, finals and of course the expo on Friday. This will leave Saturday to enjoy the expo, take some pictures, watch the events, as well as get around to see all the great exhibitors. I will also be doing some filming with the RX Muscle Iron Asylum – exciting!
With January be
hind us and winter still in full force north of the border (and in most northern US states), I have been spending lots of time working on programs for amateur level clients of mine all over the US & Canada, as well as having a blast working with great companies like Nutrabolics and Titike Activewear. Nutrabolics always has exciting contests going on (currently they have a contest in which you can win free protein for a year!), and it is a great community to work with given all of the brand ambassadors and athletes on the roster. Mr. Canada (IFBB Pro) Mike Johnson recently joined the crew, and with an ever expanding team like this it makes social media as well as industry events a lot of fun in terms of networking and creating momentum for the brand. I also recently joined the Titika Activewear team as an advocate and sponsored athlete, and couldn’t be happier working with this great Canadian apparel line. I am really stoked to showcase their spring/summer collection in the coming months, and to grow with this fantastic company.
So for those of you who will be attending the Arnold Sports Festival, please ensure you are at the main stage at the expo on Friday March 1st to cheer on all the ladies of Figure, Fitness & Bikini – we want to see and hear all of you cheering for your favorite competitors!
