If you could change into a superhero for a day who would you be and why?
If I could change into a superhero for a day I would probably be super women because I always put the needs of others before my own. Being a mother of 3 kids I am always organized, charismatic and need structure. I love being a mom, wife and a nurse to small children. I wouldn’t want to change my life for anything or anyone.
What made you begin dedicating your lifestyle to this sport?
What made me decide to dedicate my lifestyle to this sport, were my 3 children, after having my youngest, who is 18 months old. I have always been fit and would run every day even up to my due date. I grew up an athlete playing varsity soccer and cheerleading. I was fortunate enough to meet some great fit moms at our gym who I would just look at when they were lifting and I was going nowhere fast on the treadmill. I needed a change and wanted to get my groove back after having all my kids. The fit moms at the gym all did figure shows and kept telling me I had potential, but needed to get off the treadmill and hit the weights. I seeked out a trainer and she said a bikini competition would be perfect for me. Trying on the suit was definitely an uncomfortable experience, but I wasn’t happy with my body at the time. I started prepping food and lifting and never regret any of it. It had changed my life forever. I am a happy and healthy mommy, wife and nurse and life has been great.
What approach do you take to dieting...carb cycle..keto?
Dieting wise I do whatever my coach tells me!!! I eat every 2-3 hours, and drink a gallon or more of water a day. Carb cycling has worked pretty well for me.
What do you think is the biggest misconception people have about competing?
I definitely think the biggest misconception people have about competing is that we live in the gym, have no life and starve ourselves. This is absolutely, FALSE!!!! I actually have a watch I set to remind me to eat again. I find with being a busy mommy and PTO rep at their school that I eat a lot in the car. LOL!!! I never miss a meal. When I go out to eat unless it’s a cheat meal I pick a lean meat with vegetables and ask for no salt or dressing. It’s really not a big deal. I definitely don’t live in a gym with my lifestyle. I dedicate about an hour and a half in the morning to the gym while my son is in school and my two youngest girls go into the gym daycare to play with their friends. It works out for everyone.
What is your most embarrassing childhood memory?
The most embarrassing childhood memory I have is when I had to run from the soccer field after practice to the gym where I needed to be at cheerleading to practice for a pep rally. I smelled so bad no one wanted to throw me in the air or touch me. Being that I was the varsity captain of the cheerleading team I couldn’t stop to get cleaned up because then I would be late and I didn’t want the girls to think I didn’t take my role as captain seriously. But after running in the dirt, sweating a lot and my chin guards had not been washed in a while, I smelled like I rolled in dog poop. Wow that’s just gross and embarrassing repeating that. LOL.
What is the biggest lesson you have learned about YOURSELF during your contest prep?
The biggest lesson I have learned during all my contest preps is that I have a lot of will power. I must admit I love chocolate. But when it’s prep time I get in the zone and love seeing results. I know I can have a piece of chocolate after the show.
Who do you look up and admire and why?
I look up to my coach, IFBB pro Michelle Johnson because she has overcome so much in her life and has made a name for herself. She is an amazing woman who is not just a coach. She is emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually there for her clients. If anything is not going right she is so great at uplifting you and getting you back to where you need to be to keep pushing and succeeding. Being that I am a mom, wife and night nurse I find myself getting drained and feel the effects of taking on too much. I am able to my shift my mood and fix the problems so easily with her words of encouragement.

Who would you like to thank?
I first love to thank my coach Michelle Johnson for leading me into a healthy lifestyle and making my preps suit my lifestyle. Of course my loving husband who has been my number 1 supporter from day one. He never lets me give up and always cooks my food when I have a long day with the kids and am running on no sleep from working the night before and squeezing in all my workouts. He always has my back. He knows how important my lifestyle is and does everything to keep me on track. Even when I am really moody and tired, he doesn’t take it to heart and knows this too shall pass. LOL. My kids are my motivation and I want to keep setting good examples for them.
