What do you feel is the WORST part of contest prep? That’s easy; I’d say it would have to be the emotional rollercoaster that comes with dieting. One minute I’ll be happy, the next minute on the verge of tears… some days I think someone should just lock me in a padded room and feed me my meals every 2-3 hours and only let me out so I can work out… It would be the safest option for everyone
Would you please tell us a little about your workout schedule? My workout schedule varies… I typically do my fasted cardio around 8am, weight lift after work around 7ish, followed up by my last cardio session around 11pm. I always train legs on Sunday which is usually an hour and a half to two hours. The rest of my workouts for the week are planned around how my body is feeling. I try and take Saturday’s off except for doing cardio.
If you had to lose one of your 5 senses, which one would you prefer to lose and why? I’d prefer to not lose any of them, but I suppose I’d have to say smell. I’d no longer have to smell the stinky fish that I have to eat during contest prep.
If you could change one thing about this sport what would it be? There’s nothing about this sport that really bothers me enough to want to change it. I guess if I had to pick something I’d say politics (who you know, who your trainer is, where you come from, what team you’re on.…)
If you had a time capsule what would you put inside it and why? I would take pictures of my favorite cities, different modes of transportation, clothing styles... I would be fascinating to see how much things have really changed.
What is your favorite vacation spot? Anywhere there is a relaxing beach!! I love the feel of the sand, the warmth of the sun, the sound of the ocean, the feel of the wind on my skin, and the smell of the salt water.
What advice do you have for women who would like to get involved in and compete in the sport of bodybuilding? If it’s something you really want to do, then do it. Be prepared to have success along with failure. Learn from failing, grow from it, use it to fuel that fire and passion inside your heart, and remember why you started in the first place. When it gets tough and you feel like there may be no light at the end of the tunnel, keep trudging forward. That light will eventually appear and it will be warm, and bright, and wonderful. The accomplishment you will feel is an indescribable feeling you just have to experience for yourself. But trust me; once you experience that feeling, it makes the journey all worth it.
