How does your family respond to your competing?
I am blessed to have a positive and supportive family.
My brother and I are becoming closer as we grow older and this competition has given us another topic to continue to bond and converse about. Tony is “impressed of how determined and dedicated I am and is extremely proud that I am his sister.”
My mother is grateful that I have developed such a positive, healthy hobby and lifestyle. My dedication and passion has inspired her to join Zumba and weight watchers to regain control of her weight. She currently has lost ten pounds and looks to my videos for motivation whenever she loses focus. An ongoing joke is that my next photo shoot will be a mother daughter fitness duo.
My father is “proud of the dedication and time I am putting into the competition. He believes that my desire to succeed in the fitness industry will lead me to well in the show and accomplish much more in the field.”
What kind of goals have you set for yourself, short-term and long-term?
Short Term -
Getting one the stage is my current short term goal. Walking on stage requires a great deal of hard work and confidence. I’m hoping that all the hard work I put in over the past five months gives me the confidence to stand in front of hundreds of people in a tiny tiny bathing suit!
Long Term –
That’s a long list! I would have to say have a stable career as a dietician. I currently hold a job as a waitress and look forward to having a stable career in helping people. I learned it is not about the age that you graduate; but that you find a job that you love for the rest of your life.
What's currently on your iPod?
I am a reggae fanatic, but I listen to a variety of music so it depends on my mood.
If I want to get amped up I put on hip-hop jay-Z, Eminem, Nas, Pit-Bull, or strong women like Beyonce, Mary J Blidge, Shakira, Aaliyah. If I’m going for a long outside relaxing run I listen to reggae.
My favorite song is a combination of the two; Nas and Damian Marley’s “The Strong Will Continue.” Definitely worth checking out, the message is both mentally motivating and also full of energy.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of the bodybuilding world?
I grew up with a love of sports and being active. Boxing was a hobby I picked up that stimulated my passion for being in shape and enjoying working out. I had my heart broken for the first time and while passing an LA Boxing I decided it would feel good to go hit something! It did (Lol)! Boxing taught me the lesson of letting emotions empower you instead of control you; it is still my healthy outlet today. I of course have the Flyers, Phillies and Eagles in my blood, and HAVE to go to a few home games. I recently developed an interest in learning how to cook and bake. I like finding new recipes and attempting to make something edible.
Do you have a favorite exercise?
Hmmm, I love any exercise with dumbbells. They require full control for great results and are easy to take with you for a full body workout wherever you travel.

Favorite Fitness Tip:
Hobbies become part of what defines a person. Find an activity any activity that you enjoy doing, running, boxing, yoga, Zumba with your girlfriends, and incorporate it into your life at least twice a week.
Who would you like to thank?
I would like to thank my family, friends, and coworkers for their support, encouragement, and the many conversations that have kept me grounded and motivated. I also owe a huge appreciation to my coach Roe Person for his knowledge, persistence, and 24 hour availability. He treats his competitors as friends not as clients. I would like to thank my girls involved with my first show Brittney, Amanda, Amy, and Emily. I couldn’t have asked for a more genuine, friendly, strong group of women to take this journey with. Finally I would like to give a special thank you to my roommate Erin Kelly for trying all my crazy foods and recipes, and for hiding the peanut butter during my week moments! I couldn’t have done this without their support.
