Spotlight On: Veronica Boyd
Category you compete in: IFBB Bikini Pro
Date of birth: August 7, 1990
Hometown: Vicksburg, MS which is right on the Mississippi River!--- Everyone please say a prayer for all of the families affected by the flood!
Career: I am actually in college at the University of Southern Mississippi working on a major in Dietetics/Nutrition. I will be done with school in May of next year and hopefully in an internship soon after that!
What is your favorite contest prep recipe? Anything I can throw in the crockpot!... and just a side note... I was eating a sweet potato the other day and I decided I wanted to spice it up... I put a little nutmeg, I can't believe it's not butter spray, and splenda on it and it literally made me feel like it was Thanksgiving! Small things like that make all the difference to me! Haha!
What part of your physique are you currently working on? Well, overall I feel that my physique has improved since Nationals. I'll be bringing a tighter package to my pro debut! But, for being 1 week out there's not much I can change lol! After my show, I'll decide on what needs improvement.. cuz there's definitely always room for a little tweaking!
Name one piece of nutrition/fitness advice that has stuck with you. Diet is the key to success!!! I get asked all the time how to lose weight and once I explain the importance of diet, people get discouraged. Eating healthy can be fun! It's all about experimenting with new things. I try out sooo many recipes and hey, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't! Who cares... Just have fun with it!
If you could compete in one other event (FBB, physique, figure, fitness, bikini) which would it be and why? Before I decided on bikini, I had originally looked up to Ava Cowan and wanted to do Figure. In the end, I felt like bikini would allow me to show off not only my hard work, but also my personality on stage! And I definitely have fun with it!
Why NPC: Well, I didn't get interested in the fitness world until about 2 years ago and the NPC was the only organization I had heard of. Since I entered my first show last summer, I have been hooked! To me, they are the most respected organization in the business! I am so lucky to be a part of such an amazing organization... It has truly changed my life in a positive way!
What do you like best about competing? EVERYTHING!!!... Probably one of the best feelings in the world to me is being on stage... I just love the atmosphere! Everyone around you looks amazing and it is really inspiring to see so many people who take pride in their bodies and work hard at achieving their goals!
What are your goals for the future? Hmmm... I like to focus on one thing at a time. Since I have my pro debut coming up, I am really working towards top 3 so that I will qualify for the Olympia! Also, I'm looking for sponsors!
Competition history:

Next competition: Optimum Classic Pro Bikini May 21st in Shreveport, LA. This will be my pro debut!
Hobbies: Of course, working out, EATING, and competing! Lol... I also love spending time with my friends and family whether it's being out on the water during the summer, going on road trips, or just chilling out watching a good movie and playing with my dog! It doesn't take much to make me happy!
What is the biggest lesson you have learned over the years when it comes to competing? In the short time that I have been competing, I have learned to never give up and follow your dreams. Surround yourself with people who support you and you will go far!
What is your favorite contest prep supplement? Well, I LOVE my Gaspari Chocolate Myofusion protein and I can't work out without my Lemon-lime Jack3d! I've also been trying out Stimerex-ES as my fat burner and I've seen some improvements in not only my physique, but also my energy...It keeps me going!
