What do you feel is the WORST part of contest prep? The diet is tough since I love food so much. Cardio becomes a chore since you are on limited calories and your energy levels aren't like they are in the off-season.
Would you please tell us a little about your workout schedule? It varies with the time I do cardio. But it is always 1 hour, 5 days a week. I like to do it in the morning around 7am or if I have clients, I will do it later around 11pm. I lift weight 5days a week around 12:30 or 1pm. My schedule goes as followed:
Monday=Chest/abs
Tuesday-Back/hamstrings/calves
Wednesday-Pilates/shoulders/abs
Thursday-Legs
Friday=Biceps/Triceps
Saturday-1 hour Yoga class
Sunday=off
If you had to lose one of your 5 senses, which one would you prefer to lose and why? I would have to say my smell. More times than often I smell bad things then good things. So I think losing my smell wouldn't be that bad. There is so much pollution in the air that I would rather not smell it.
If you could change one things about this sport what would it be? To have the women be rewarded more money! The top pros don't make nearly as much as the men and they work just as hard! We need equality in this sense!
If you had a time capsule what would you put inside it and why? An iPhone, an iPad, a kindle, and an X-box. These items reflect on the technology we use today. It would be cool to compare the technology in the future to this when the time capsule is opened. I can't imagine what it is going to be like when these items are outdated. It's crazy!
What is your favorite vacation spot? Any Carribean island. I love the beach and snorkeling. It is so relaxing! I would love to retire there someday!
What advice do you have for women who would like to get involved in and compete in the sport of bodybuilding? Be patient! Rome wasn't built in a day and it takes time to build a great physique! You have to make it a lifestyle. Focus, stay strong, be consistent,dedicated and don't let anyone or anything get in the way of your goals!
What is a day-in-the-life of Janelle Gallo like? I wake up at 5am everyday. I have breakfast and then do my cardio depending on when I have clients.. I start training clients around 9am or sometimes 6:30am depending on the day. 12:30pm I hit the gym for some weights. I then check e-mails, messages on Facebook, do business calls,etc. Then I go back to training clients around 4:30pm. I usually am done between 6 and 7pm. I come home and unwind then go to bed at 10pm and do it all over again! Weekends I only train clients from 8-10am and I enjoy my yoga class at 11am. Then it is home to do chores and spend some great time with my fiancee. I love my Sundays! I sleep in until 8am and relax most of the day. Then the daily grind starts again on Monday!
Favorite Motivational Quote:
"Don't let the little things defeat you! Stay Strong!"
In closing, Who would you like to give a shout out to? My family, my wonderful fiancee, Chris Riegger, Jerry Scalesse who puts me through brutal workouts, and Noel Fuller who is helping me with my diet. They all play a huge role with the support I need to reach my fitness goals.
