How has your life changed since you adopted this lifestyle and started competing?
My life is so exciting now, it is extraordinary! I look forward to everyday! I know exactly where I am headed. I have a purpose and goals that I get closer to every competition!
What have you found to be the best way to balance family, friends, career, this lifestyle, etc…
The best way to balance is to always be prepared! Always have your meals with you. I pack every meal for the whole day I put it in a cooler and carry it everywhere. I sneak meals into theaters so I can still enjoy movies with my kids, bring my food to family functions. I remember last year I was in a wedding a week before Team U! Everyone was eating wedding cake and chocolate covered strawberries and I was eating cold orange roughy and asparagus.
If you could change places with one competitor for the day who would it be and why?
I have never wanted to be anyone else. The road we travel to get to this level is so unique, and I would not change it for anything.
Name two of the most inspirational people in your life and tell why they inspire you.
I don’t get inspired by other people. I get inspired by my own progress. I don’t even think about it. I really compete with myself. I always try to make routine harder than the last one, or lift more this week than I did last week.
Tell one recipe or supplement you can’t live without.
My most favorite supplement I can’t live without is UMP by Beverly. It is a delicious protein. It is so versatile I can drink it, make it into a pudding, or cook with it! It really saves me when I am having a chocolate meltdown! A new favorite of mine is Justine’s Maple Almond Butter. Sometimes I mix the UMP with the almond butter and a little bit of water to make a pudding ( if you use chocolate UMP it tastes like a Reese….I swear!)
Tell about a typical training day for you. What exercises, how many sets/reps…etc…
I start my day with about 45 minutes of cardio on a empty stomach. So most people don’t like me much until I eat…J. I usually get about 2 to 3 meals down before weight training. I like to keep my workouts moving. My fitness routine demands a lot of endurance so I like to design my workouts with a lot of super sets. I incorporate a lot of fitness moves while I weight train. I usually do 3 to 4 sets and about 5 to 6 different exercises per body part, with a few handstands and toe touches thrown in there.
In closing, who would you like to give a shout out to?
Wow I just did this in a status on Facebook…LOL! I always have to thank my family for putting up with my selfishness! I have to give my bf credit for picking my theme for my winning routine (which was my favorite so far!). I also love how my physique came in this year, so thank you Mike Davies for the delicious diets!
