How has your life changed since you adopted this lifestyle and started competing? I love the work ethic of being a bodybuilder and it has made me more confident and assertive and stronger. Competing has allowed me to be myself and not what society is expecting a female should be. It has also taught me even though I am woman and a mother that I can be strong, intelligent and beautiful at the same time.
What have you found to be the best way to balance family, friends, career, this lifestyle, etc… When I am not preparing for a competition, I make sure any activities that involve my son and his schooling takes priority. During contest prep cardio is done first thing in morning and weights at night. Meal preparation is done on Sunday for the week, which leave me more time attend to my son and family and friends. My friends are very understanding and supportive and have accepted my healthy lifestyle and seeing me always with an igloo. They will even make sure when keeping a party or barbeque there is chicken breast or steak and sweet potatoes.
If you could change places with one competitor for the day who would it be and why? Well, there are so many good one but I will choose Kai Greene. He is the most humble bodybuilder I have seen, sticking to his roots and not allowing his success to cloud his mind as I have seen with other pros. His work ethics is phenomenal.
Name two of the most inspirational people in your life and tell why they inspire you. Linda Murray and Iris Kyle, these ladies have muscles and still have a feminine look. Linda Murray she has the Olympia titles 8 times and has the most aesthetically physique I have ever seen to this date She is also strong, beautiful and her persona on stage when doing her routines is very impressive.
Iris Kyle her drive and determination to succeed is what I admire. Her physique is so spectacular.
Tell one recipe or supplement you can’t live without. I would say egg whites; I have learned to make so much with egg whites such as spinach omelet, egg white pizza (chicken breast, red, green peppers, chili peppers and also no carbs egg white pancakes sweeten with stevia.
Tell about a typical training day for you. What exercises, how many sets/reps…etc… When I’m not competing cardio is done 3 times a week for 45 min either cycling class or on stair master. Weight training is done after work where I trained 2 body parts. During competitive season cardio is done twice a day first thing in the morning and in the evening after weight training 5 days a week, training. Depending how my condition is cardio is 7 days a week. Also during contest prep legs are training twice, heavy one day and leg shaper twice a week early morning before morning cardio.
Monday Chest
Tuesday Back
Thursday Shoulder
Friday, Triceps and Biceps
Saturday Heavy Legs
Leg shapers Tuesday and Thursday before morning cardio
In closing, who would you like to give a shout out to? So many people to thank but first and foremost, I would give thanks to the God for giving me the strength as I faced many obstacles in my personal life while contest prepping. A big shout out to my family and also my wonderful son Jovanny who is my greatest supporter and also number one fan. Laura Binetti for getting me on the right track with my contest diet and training. Also my training partners Shevvy and Delroy believing in me and taking me thus far. Last but not least a special mention to very special person (no need to mention, she knows herself), who is also a female bodybuilder who has been so instrumental in my 2 contest prep this year in taking my physique to another level which I most grateful and blessed.
