Next competition: I’m not sure when I will be competing next. I really miss it but I have so many things going on with business. When I compete that is my only focus and everything else comes after so when I get to that stage is when I may get back on stage! We will see.:)
In your opinion, how important is motivation and confidence when aiming to accomplish a goal?
I believe confidence is the most important thing. If you don’t believe in yourself then nobody will. Confidence breeds motivation and the rest falls into place.
In your eyes, what combination of hard work and natural ability is needed to reach the top?
Most people in our industry have a bit of natural ability but what sets the champs apart from the average is their hard work and DISCIPLINE!
What are some motivational strategies that have or currently work for you?
What keeps me motivated is the thought of failing! I come from a very very poor area in Spain. There is so many people back home that would do anything to have this opportunity that I have. I work hard everyday knowing where I come from and being blessed with the opportunities that I have! Now that I have my twin boys, they are my ULTIMATE motivation. As a parent your life has more meaning and all the hard work now makes more sense :)
Give me some examples from your life where confidence has helped you to achieve?
Confidence has helped me in all of my success. I had so many people tell me that I was crazy and that I would never make it in the U.S.. If I didn’t believe in me then I would have listened to all of that negative feedback and probably wouldn’t be where I am today.
What do you find the most challenging about competing..
The most challenging thing about competing is trying to find balance! When I compete my sole focus is my competition. Thankfully I have a strong support system that understand and support what I do
What are your top 5 key strategies for success?
My top 5 keys to success
*hardwork
*discipline
*time management
*stay humble
*and most important! Have fun and enjoy what you do!
What is your favorite protein powder? Why do you like it? I have a hard time with most protein powders.. I have tried many and I get very bloated from most. I have had the best reaction and results from the ON Whey Protein!
Favorite Inspirational Quote:
Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win!… So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing.” 1 Corinthians 9:24, 26
Have you gone through a transformation?
I have actually gone through a few transformations. :) A few years ago I weighed 185 pounds. It wasn’t until I moved to Mexico and then the U.S when I found fitness and a healthy lifestyle. I am back in shape after gaining 50 pounds with my twins.
How did you get your body back post-baby?
In my experience I feel it had a lot to do with the shape I was in before I got pregnant. I was in the best shape of my life. I actually competed when I was 2 months pregnant not having any Idea that I was pregnant. While pregnant I made sure I ate very healthy. Of course I had cravings, but I didn’t let the fact of me being pregnant give me the okay to eat whatever I wanted. I wasn’t able to train much at all as I was a high risk pregnancy and got put on bed rest. So I had to make sure I didn’t blow it to bad on my food. I made sure I made the appropriate changes in nutrients for the babies, but for the most part I maintained my normal diet.
How do you stay fit amidst a hectic schedule and manage to do it all?
PLAN PLAN PLAN!!!! It’s all about preparation and having a goal. When I got pregnant I had so many people tell me my body would never be the same. It isn’t easy. Feeding my boys every three hours and trying to feed myself and find time for the gym. But when there is a will there is a way.
In closing, Who would you like to give a shout out to?
I would like to thank all of my fans and people who have showed so much support in my journey. Thank you guys so much. I would also like to thank Jon Lindsay and the NPC/IFBB pro league. Jon has been a huge influential part in my career and I have learned so much from him. Last but not least I would like to thank my husband and business partner Joe DiScuillo. Without him all this wouldn’t be possible. He has been my rock. And thank you RX Muscle for this amazing opportunity..
