Aaron Backstage With Adam Cohen
As the Light Heavyweight class walked out on to the stage, I spotted a muscle-headz physique of a man, Adam Cohen. Standing at 5’6 and weighing in at 195, he appears even bigger onstage. When I asked him about that, he told me that he attributes his tremendous thickness to years of powerlifting.
When I looked down on the competitor list and saw the name Cohen, I immediately knew Adam was part of the tribe (read: Jew). When I originally got into bodybuilding I was under the impression that Mike Katz (of Pumping Iron fame) and I were the only two Jews in bodybuilding. Since becoming more visible in the industry, I have been shocked by the sheer amount of Jewish bodybuilders who have contacted me. It’s funny that at one time I thought I had to be one of the most muscular Jews on the planet. Trust me when I say, Adam Cohen truly is!
Adam did the Jr. Nationals last year, and placed an impressive third. This year he was in the first call-out with only two other guys. If you look back at his pictures, you will see that he has certainly made improvements this year working with contest prep coach, Fakhri Mubarak. No matter what happens at here in Chicago, you will see Adam in Vegas at the NPC USAs going for his IFBB Pro card!
