The 2010 IFBB Border States Pro Figure concluded this Halloween weekend in San Diego, California. Teresa Anthony takes home her first pro win, qualifying her for next year's Olympia along with Felicia Romero in 2nd and Ava Cowan in 3rd.
Rounding out the top five are Deena Walsh in the 4th place position and Kristin Nunn taking 5th.
Rumors, speculation, and hearsay regarding a new women's physique division have swept across various internet bodybuilding and fitness forums over the past week. Stories of the demise of women's bodybuilding run rampant, which has created what one forum member has coined "widespread panic" on the Rx Muscle Forums. Of course, the demise of women's bodybuilding has been predicted for years, but we have yet to see it disappear from the contest schedule. Now that the new Women's Physique Division is a reality, will it mark the end of women's bodybuilding as we know it?
For Bikini competitor, Cristina Vujnich it would be fair to say that this has been quite a year. After placing 1st in the figure section at her first ever show (the 2009 NANBF St Louis) she entered the NPC Grand Prix, took 7th place in Figure, moved to Bikini, took the 1st place in the NPC Muscle Classic and just placed 3rd in the Nationals in Atlanta.
On top of all this she has sponsorship deals with Optimum Nutrition and American Bodybuilding and, with a BA degree in Broadcast Journalism, looks to be a likely candidate for a syndicated fitness show in the not too distant future (according to my crystal ball!).
So after all this, and given the fact that you are probably wondering what her secret is, I thought it was time to take a closer look at this promising new athlete and maybe even try and figure out what the heck makes her so successful!
