How has your life changed since you adopted this lifestyle and started competing?
My life has definitely changed for the better since I started competing! Prior to competing I didn’t realize it but I lived a very unhealthy lifestyle when it came to my diet and exercise program. I was extremely focused on counting calories, being deficient and trying to be as thin as possible… I was always extremely fatigued, always getting sick and always cranky! I would work out extremely hard on top of all this including running up to 7 miles a day 6 or 7 days a week. Not a very pleasant life to live especially for my husband who put up with me all the time.

Since I started training and competing in shows with my trainer Kim Oddo, I have had drastic improvements in my spiritual, mental and physical health. I was extremely apprehensive and a bit fearful in the beginning but it was something I wanted to do and was ready to commit to. With all of Kim’s guidance, knowledge and God’s blessing I was able to overcome and overhaul my unhealthy lifestyle. I look at food with a whole new perspective now… It is fuel for my body and I now love and appreciate it in a whf DSC 0171 2 1ole new way. Plus, I’m never hungry, which is great! Overall, I am a happier, healthier and a more confident person.

What have you found to be the best way to balance family, friends, career, this lifestyle, etc…
I am a very spiritual person, I strive to keep Christ as my number one priority and focus. If I keep my eyes set on him everything else stays balanced. It is as simple as that! Also keeping your priorities straight! God, your family and YOU should always come first before anything else. If your’ training regimen is causing too much strain on you and your family it’s time to reprioritize to a better foundation then start back up again.  Be organized and stay focused on the task at hand. Every morning I compile a task/goal list for the day. It is so simple but helps tremendously when you are a busy person. It prevents me from getting scattered or stressed when the day is chaotic. Just check one task off at a time and arrange time frames according to what needs to be done. This helps a lot with not backtracking and forgetfulness. In the long run making something as simple as a “List” will save you time that you would potentially lose to spend with friends, family, etc.

If you could change places with one competitor for the day who would it be and why? Probably Whitney Jones! She is a pro fitness competitor and such a sweet person. I love gymnastics and fitness, I would love to experience having those awesome abilities for a day!

Name two of the most inspirational people in your life and tell why they inspire you.
Jesus is my number one inspiration! It might sound corny but it’s true. He not only gave his life for me but was the perfection of a man, the greatest person to ever walk this earth.
My other inspiration would be my best friend Casey Trailer. She is also an IFBB Bikini Pro. She is one of the hardest working people I know. She manages juggling a career as a trainer, models, attending school full time (which is a commute mind you) and continues to train and competes all with a smile on her face. She is filled with love, dedication, diligence, hard work ethic and is so driven! Best of all she loves God and she is my best friend.

Tell one recipe or supplement you can’t live without.
Any of my Muscle Milk proteins and CytoSport products!

Tell about a typical training day for you.  What exercises, how many sets/reps…Janelle-7500lowresetc…
It varies so much! Depending on if I am training for a show prep with Kim or just maintaining on my own. I love to keep my muscles guessing though, mixing up exercises, reps and weight constantly. It keeps me from getting bored too!

In closing, Who would you like to give a shout out to?

My wonderful husband, Jimmie! He is such a gift, my life would be incomplete without him. He is always supporting me in every way possible, puts up with my craziness and loves me unconditionally!
My trainer and friend Kim Oddo! He has been such a blessing to my life. With his coaching, training and friendship I was able to make my dream of winning my pro card a reality and have a healthier lifestyle than in my past.

My friends and loved ones who are always supporting and encouraging me.
Everyone at Muscle Milk/CytoSport for supporting me and providing me with so many amazing products! Perfect Tan, here in Murrieta, for providing me with a golden glow all year long and great fellowship! Also Supplement Card, a great new company that supplies thousands of Vitamins and supplement at great discounted rates!
