How has your life changed since you adopted this lifestyle and started competing?
My life has become full and focused mentally, physically, and socially. My thoughts are now motivating, courageous, and focused on attaining the next goal set before me. My body has become strong and lean, shapely and balanced and my social life has become engulfed with wonderfully supportive friends. I simply love the extreme challenge I face daily at the gym.
This disciplined lifestyle is my way of taking responsibility for the body God has given me. My workouts have become my spiritual outlet of worship and praise to God, and my testimony to the wonder of His creation.

I love the human form and the artistry of shape, muscles and body lines. I bring a celebration of the body to the stage and hope the audience (and judges) will be inspired, and delighted, to look upon the human art form in which we all inhabit.

What have you found to be the best way to balance family, friends, career, this lifestyle, etc…
I am blessed to be married to my trainer and we own a gym, making family and career delightfully balanced and supportive. We share common goals and understand the lifestyle and journey with all its ups and downs. The gym members at Fitness Advantage are our extended family and we enjoy many friendly activities together. Outside of the gym environment we attend movies, weddings, parties, weekend vacation jaunts and sushi dinners, jBeauty and Braunust to name a few!

Bodybuilding is my lifestyle of choice while training clients and managing the business is my career. The perfect balance for me!

If you could change places with one competitor for the day who would it be and why?
Adela Garcia! I would love to experience her ability to jump, dance and tumble across the Olympia stage.
At age eleven, I was a competitive gymnast and a team member with, later to be aerobic fitness guru, Denise Austin. Those early years of tumbling and fearless flinging of our bodies through the air brought me such thrilling vibrant sensations and feeling of freedom! I regret not having known about the world of bodybuilding and fitness at an earlier stage in my life because I would have definitely trained as a Fitness competitor. I no longer have the flexibility of my younger days, though that may be another goal to strive for! After all, “There is no finish line”!!

Name two of the most inspirational people in your life and tell why they inspire you.
Sand Kam, my husband and trainer, is and has been my motivating inspiration. His focus is that of excellence in all he sets out to do. He tirelessly gives caring knowledge and hands-on training to all of his clients, both the athletes and those with spinal cord injuries. I see the positive impact he has on all those he comes into contact with and he inspires me to be a better person of integrity and character.

Kay Arthur is an international Bible teacher, four-time ECPA Christian Book Award winning author, and co-CEO of Precept Ministries International. Through Precept Ministries, Kay has taught me the Bible, in-depth, which is the single life source from which I am continually inspired. Those who know me well know that I love to study eschatology. If you really want to engage me in conversation let’s talk end times; but beware, my enthusiasm can get carried away on this subject!

Tell one recipe or supplement you can’t live without.
Coffeeeeeee! I love my morning cup of coffee and do not want to live without it. Funny thing is that I never drank it until the day when I realized why all of my aerobic class students were always so perky at 6:00am while I was dragging my tired little body to the gym! The magic elixir of organic Ethiopian Harrar mixed with a little Irish Cream is intoxicating and delectable to my palate first thing in the morning.

Tell about a typical training day for you.  What exercises, how many sets/reps…etc…
Like any gym rat, I love weight training. I follow a typical threUSA Championships 2011 Top 5e-day split on a five-day rotation; one major muscle group: chest, back, or legs doing a 6-8 set pyramid at extremely high intensity. I always train to failure.

Then, One secondary muscle group: biceps, triceps, or shoulders, doing 3-5 straight sets also at extremely high intensity. I don’t usually train to failure on the secondary lift.
I also incorporate HIIT and LISS on my treadmill 3-5 days per week.

In closing, Who would you like to give a shout out to?
Shout out to all of my fellow competitors who have committed themselves to this challenging and fulfilling lifestyle. Remember to compete for something more, and greater, than just winning. The thrill of the journey itself and the day-to-day experiences is what a fulfilling life is made of. See you on the stage!
