How has your life changed since you adopted this lifestyle and started competing?
I love everything about working out. The drive that comes with setting goals and surpassing them is so empowering. I’m definitely not your typical girly girl in the gym. I love to show up the ‘macho’ guys and push my limits. In 2012 I was introduced to bikini competitions and knew I had to be a part of the sport. I started out wanting to at least look like I belonged on stage next to the other girls. Now I am training to become a national competitor and earn that PRO card! Competing has transformed my lifestyle and has made me a better person, inside and out. My days are scheduled to work around my training and prep. It’s not just a quick fad that anyone can do; it takes commitment, drive and determination. As a serious competitor you have to be willing to sacrifice a lot. On the weekends you won’t find me out with friends at the bars or clubs, I’ll be at the gym hitting the weights and prepping for my next show! There will be plenty of people who say that you are crazy and obsessed but at the end of the day it’s YOUR dreams. All you have to do is have the guts to go after them!  

What have you found to be the best way to balance family, friends, career, this lifestyle, etc…
While competing it can defiantly be tough to find balance between training and your personal life. I am so blessed to have a future hubby who is beyond supportive and very patient and understanding. We actually met at the gym 4 years ago and the first thing we had in common was our training regimen. But it can still be hard to make time for those that are most important to when you are so focused on achieving your goals. You can’t totally neglect and forget about everything and everyone else around you. I haven’t been perfect and I have messed up and I’m sure I will again but it’s a learning process. I’m learning that I can maintain focus toward achieving my goals and still enjoy everything else around me. Without the support of my family and friends there’s no way I would be where I am today. 

If you could chIMG 0009ange places with one competitor for the day who would it be and why?
IFBB Pro India Paulino. She comes across so genuine and humble in her interviews and blogs. I love that she is so passionate about her achievements and still maintains a healthy lifestyle with her own personal life. Plus she’s a mini bikini beast!

Name two of the most inspirational people in your life and tell why they inspire you.
IFBB Pro Nathalia Melo and my coach IFBB Pro Tanji Johnson.

I love Nathalia’s look! She has transformed the look of bikini and proven that muscles are rockin on the bikini bod! Anyone can be skinny and look decent in a suit, but not just anyone can put in the work and dedication to sculpt your physique and work it with sass. She is my inspiration!

As for my coach Tanji, I am so grateful to have her in my life. She is an amazing mentor and one of the most humble athletes I have ever met. No matter the amount of her accomplishments she never loses sight of her identity in Christ. She is a true role model and friend.

Tell one recipe or supplement you can’t live without.
I absolutely LOVE my protein shake and almond butter haha. Simple yet amazing for a bikini competitor. I could eat so much almond butter if my nutritionist let me lol. 

Tell about a typical training day for you.  What exercises, how many sets/reps…etc…
I do cardio twice a day Mon-Sat and once on Sun. I lift 6 times a week, training a different body part everyday. My coach, Pete Grubbs with Construction Zone, gives me a new diet plan every few weeks depending how far out I am from a show. He also does all my leg days, #PeterBuilt! ;-)
