How does your family respond to your competing? My husband and my 2 sons are my biggest fans. My younger son (who’s 5) even tries to adjust my posing!! My dad and sister are excited for me, and want to see me happy and successful in the sport I love so much! My other family members have some different ideas...some say it’s an “unhealthy obsession”. Some get annoyed when I bring my own food to a party, or politely say “no thanks” to the sweets... I say, it’s MY lifestye, and I’m loving every minute of it.
What kind of goals have you set for yourself, short-term and long-term? In the short term, I want to get stronger. I have been trying to max bench press 225 for a while now!! In the long term, I want that sought after IFBB pro card!! Then, go from there! I know my sponsors, Pit-Bull Nutrition & Supplements, are super proud of me, but I’m sure they’d be happy to see a WP pro too :)
What's currently on your iPod? more like, what isn’t?! I’m not a music snob. Right now it’s everything from Johnny Cash, to TuPac! I’m a 80’s rock chick for sure!! Sometimes I blare Metallica or Green Day to get gym motivation, while other days it’s Guns N Roses, and Aerosmith. But...on my way to work, the kids and I sing our hearts out to some good ‘ol country! (we live in the south! it’s a MUST)
What are your hobbies and interests outside of the bodybuilding world? As strange as it sounds, I have a passion for baking cupcakes from scratch!! I don’t eat a bit of it, but I bake for others all the time. It’s something that makes me happy, and relaxes me. I feel bad though, because I’m a little bit of a control freak in the kitchen, and it’s “HANDS OFF” when the kiddos try to touch the beaters or the piping bag!!
Do you have a favorite exercise? Sure do!!! Flat Barbell Bench press. Delts are my favorite body part to train, but I love a heavy bench press! (and the looks I get from people in the gym when I’m going heavy!!)
Competition history:
NPC Florida State 2012
NPC Southern States 2013
Next competition: I wanted to keep it a secret...buttttt Europa Orlando 2014
Favorite Fitness Tip: You can’t out train a bad diet. Sounds simple, but it’s SO TRUE! When I started this journey, I wasn’t eating the way I should have been. As soon as I started eating the way I needed to, it all came together!
Who would you like to thank? My sponsors Pit-Bull Nutrition and Supplements for taking me on as a newbie with no contest history, and helping me in so many ways. My husband, who is also my coach...he will kick my ass in the gym, then come home and give me a massage. My kids who are my BIGGEST fans and supporters (and who will offer me a cookie, then say “oh, you can’t...your bodybuilding show).
