or in this case, something has to change - and it has to change now.
When I started this blog I really thought it was a step in the right direction....which it is....but it has not been as immediate as I expected. I don't mean to imply that I thought I'd write an entry and be cured - um, no - but I did think once I got it out I'd start the healing process. In reality, it only ripped open the wound further, and I think the anxiety of being so honest gave me a very vulnerable feeling...A feeling I do not deal with too well. I've alway had this issue of wanting to be "perfect" and seeming above temptation - above things that make others fall...
Mindi Smith has confirmed that she will not be competing in the 2010 IFBB Olympia this coming weekend via her Facebook page.
"Due to serious health concerns and under the guidance of my doctor, I have withdrawn myself from the 2010 Figure Olympia. I am deeply saddened by the situation and am working to get myself back to health. Thank you for your
understanding and concern on this matter." - Mindi
"Life is full of fun fulfilled adventurous avenues some of us tend to locate our niche others take a lifetime wondering when will it happen all to find out later that it doesn't.. We need to keep life as simple as repeating our own name... That's the game I play.... I'm a smooth sailing symbol of pride, dignity and mobility a definite leader with a desire to be the center of attention. I'm very proud of who I am graceful, creative dramatic, determined, extremely generous, enthusiastic and forever direct on all levels..." --Iris Kyle, 6x Ms Olympia
When you run your eyes over her contest history there can be no doubt that Bonnie Pappas has had a pretty impressive track record so far and with her recent 4th placing in the Heavyweights and 2nd placing in the 35+ Masters at the North American Championships it is certain that even greater things lie ahead. However, at this point in time not a lot has been written about this rising star. Well I am about to change that as once again RX Muscle gets up close and personal with your favorite athletes from the bodybuilding world....
If you have been a fan of the sport of Figure since it's inception, the name of Dina Al-Sabah should evoke visions of exotic beauty, impeccable physique lines, a contagious smile and uncanny sex appeal.
Originally from Kuwait, Dina first broke into the NPC spotlight about seven years ago. In her first few years of competing as a Figure Athlete, Dina won just about all of the major NPC Regional National competitions from coast to coast. She was simply "that good". However, Dina was caught in a dilemma. Since she was not a U.S. Citizen and was not eligible to compete in National U.S. shows that offered an IFBB Pro Card.
Okay…I hope you are sitting down to read this because I am about to say something very important and I want you to remember it. Ready? “Gail Auerbach will turn pro in 2011.” Got it? There is my prediction, and having placed 1st in the middleweight plus taken the overall title at last year’s Junior USA, 2nd in the middleweights in this year’s Junior Nationals, and 4th in the 2010 USA’s - who can really doubt that Gail has what it takes to be a pro? So, given all this I think it is about time we gave Gail our attention on RX and found out a little more about what makes this future pro tick…
The more articles I do on the women who compete in the bikini division the more impressed I become with the drive and enthusiasm of these women who are, after all, competing in a class which is still under a great deal of scrutiny when it comes to its value within bodybuilding competitions. One such competitor is Monica Eiler, born in Germany and moving to the USA at a young age, Monica’s original aspirations of being an architect were quashed by the sedentary aspect of the occupation. Taking a time-out to become a waitress on a cruise ship she encountered a few personal trainers, got hooked on the idea and took it back to New York where she became a rising star at Crunch Fitness before expanding her horizons to running her own training business and, of course, competing in the bikini division. In her first show (the Eastern USA) she not only took first place but also grabbed the overall title! Now that is what I call making an entrance…and, according to Monica, she has only just begun. So let’s find out a little more about this ambitious athlete and her plans for the future...
To say Melanie is an inspiration would be an insult to the hard work and determination this young lady has put forth in her life. Any "normal" person would have hung it up a long time ago hedging on the fact that they had nagging aches and pains. Any "normal" person would be ok with being complacent and settling on the usual day-to-day life we all live through. But Melanie is far from normal. And she does anything but settle. She is one of those rare gems who, when deciding to do something, does it...and does it very well.
