Are You Coachable? Critical Issues With Coaching
When I began competing in Figure and Fitness, my first coach never praised me. In fact, if anything he called me out in an unfamiliar group of other athletes in boot camp. His words were embarrassing at times, but it was this very feeling that had me actually training harder. I wanted to measure up and be the best. I certainly did not want to be embarrassed again so I did all I could to not set myself up for it and give him a reason.
Have a Sweet Tooth? Try These Two Treats!
I have a sensational sweet tooth. I grew up with a mother (an incredible mother) whose lifetime famous saying is, “A day without sugar isn’t worth living!” She was a chef and baker, with a bakery at one time that was extremely successful. Her mouth-watering brownies and goodies galore were constantly in the house! So you can imagine how long it has taken me to dull, suppress, and greatly try to reverse the massive sweet lovin’ that has been ingrained in me.
Canuck Corner With Natalie Waples #26
Well October is officially here which means the 2013 Olympia Weekend has come and gone, and what an amazing experience it was! This year was my third on the Olympia stage and it was by far the best I have felt with regards to my physique and overall presentation. However, the Sunday evening before the Olympia I started to feel ill and woke up Monday with an insane fever and a throat that felt like it had glass shards running down it. I slept for 12 hours Monday (7am till 7pm), had nothing to eat, and only drank a litre of water (which is unacceptable while water loading!) and then dragged myself to work for 3 hours on Tuesday as I had to travel Wednesday and had a ton to do.
What exactly does it mean to be a 9x Olympia champion in the world of professional bodybuilding? It means you’re in an elite club of one. Iris Kyle is now the sole member in this exclusive fraternity and it may have just defined and cemented her legacy as the greatest bodybuilder-- male or female-- of all time.

Lactic Acid: Friend or Foe?
It used to be a common belief that lactic acid was a direct cause of fatigue and the major component responsible for muscular soreness or delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). Contrary to popular belief, lactic acid is not directly responsible for muscular fatigue or delayed onset muscle soreness. So, let’s set the record straight about what lactic acid is and what it actually does.
